A Special Thank You Giveaway!

I know it has been a while, but after the really interesting discussion that got going after Monday's post, I thought that it was high time for a GIVEAWAY!

Yay!!

This is not sponsored by anyone other than ME :-) This is a special thank you from me to my awesome readers for visiting this blog and joining in on discussions whether they are intense or lighthearted.

So, this is it - one lucky reader is going to win a $50 gift certificate for either Home Sense (Canada) or Home Goods (US). Isn't that fun?! I figure that it will help someone get a few accessories like this:

Or maybe put it towards something bigger like this:

(Both images from Tim at Design Maze - Home Sense hunter extraordinaire)

What do you have to do to win this? Not much - just be a follower and leave a comment saying hi, or telling me about your day or what you want to do in your house next. Just have a chat!

Contest will stay open for one week - so I'll use one of those awesome random number selectors next Thursday :-)

am totally a follower! I've been working 14 hour days for the last 3 days, and likely this will proceed like this for the next week and a half, including weekend work. boo.

Meanwhile, my husband and i are working on constructing our own bar/wine cabinet. It's been an interesting process (considering, that the thing isn't square) but it still looks pretty good.

How sweet are you?! :)
Homesense is my all-time favourite store and it's such a treat to shop there whenever I'm back in Canada.
As for my day... I'm busy working on framing a few things to fill some of these empty walls :)

You're so nice!!! I was just at Homesense yesterday and of course there are so many nice things there - what I really want is a rug so I'm waiting for the right one. Thanks so much for this great giveaway!

I've been a follower for a while now (love, love your blog!) I'd buy some pillows, we just got a new couch that came with pillows (boring!) I'd love to replace them with something with more color!  Thanks for the giveaway and all the time and effort you put into your blog, much appreciated :)

We are in the process of putting together a nursery for our first child and the gift certificate to Home Goods (we're in Baltimore, MD) would be a great help!  We also live in a rowhouse and have renovated it while living here, so we love reading your blog and comparing notes!  Good luck finishing up the bathroom reno!

Homesense is my favourite home store in Toronto! I furnished most of my condo via Homesense and Cragslist, so would love to have a little extra money to spend there. Thanks for the giveaway (I am usually a silent reader via Reader).

I think I'm your girl for this giveaway. We don't have a close Home Goods, but there's one right near my sister and brother-in-law's home. I like to stop by there on the way. (Shhh.... don't tell.)

Thanks for the chance.

Hi Janice! I am a fellow Canadian from Windsor, Ontario.
We have 1 HomeSense in our area & I go there at least once a week! My weaknesses are in lamps, pillows and frames!
Our next home project is a big one: finishing our basement...should be interesting! haha!
Thank you sooo much!

My house is due for a renovation of my 22 square foot bathroom.  Ahhh the joys of owning an old home.  Not sure how such a small room gets to be so costly...

Christine Shankowsky said...

Um, ya I would have absolutely no trouble spending $50 at Home Sense. Perfect giveaway, Janice!

KJ and CO. said...

Yay!

Our next project begins in a few minutes actually. The "new to us" stainless steel dishwasher is getting installed in the kitchen and this weekend we're going to grab a dual-flush toilet while they're on sale at Home Depot. How boring!

Great give away Janice. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and Home Sense.

Homegoods, FTW! I finally have one near me up here in western NY! For those out in Texas area, I am INSANELY jealous of your Garden Ridge stores. I had the pleasure of dropping into one out in the Lewisville area and all I can say is.... *speechless* It's like the Costco version of Homegoods!

Hello! I've followed for  a few months now but this is my first comment :)

So happy to see Canadian bloggers... especially when it comes to amazing giveaways like this! hahaI love everything you've done to your place lately... such big changes but they look wonderful.I'm planning on doing a few small changes to the color scheme in my living room and have had my eye on mustard yellow pillows from HomeSense for weeks now!

Tami said...

I've been a follower for a while, and I always enjoy what you come up with!  We're in the process of taking our living room from overlarge play room to a grown-up space, so any funds at HomeGoods would be delightful!  Thanks for being so generous with your groupies!

Peggy said...

I've been following your blog for about a year now -- it's so nice to have someone in "our" neck of the woods (we're just down the 401 from you if you head east).  We've been in a renovating mode recently and just finished replacing all of our flooring with red oak hardwood in a natural stain.  A new carpet in the livingarea has necessitated the need to purchase some new pillows but that will have to wait until these rooms are painted (early October).  Thanks for all your great ideas and for being honest about the things that don't go well too.

Kerry said...

Great giveaway Janice!! With it being a rainy day and all, Halle and I have been hanging out snuggling. It helps that she got a shot at her 2 month appt today and really just wants to nap and be close to Mommy! I'll take it! :)

Have a great weekend! :)

Thanks for the chance to win :) Next thing in our house is something small that we already have the materials for but will just take sweat and muscle - sanding down the banisters and staining them :S Right now they are 1980s orange wood, but I want them to be a dark walnut. Luckily they are square so it shouldn't be too terrible!!! Love your blog and can't wait to see the full bathroom reveal...

Michelle @ AM Dolce Vita said...

This is such a great giveaway! One (lady) can never have enough HomeSense gift cards. :-) Speaking of next project, I am still debating between finishing the basement or renovatinng our master bath. My husband is dying to reclaim his man cave once we carve out an entertainment area in the basement, so his vote is to finish the basement. We will be adding another guest bedroom, bathroom, wet bar, media room and game room down there. So considering all that much more living space we are going to get from the basement, it might make more sense to get to it first, right?

I am well past 30.... but my life sure did change then and for the better. Your blog is one of the first blogs that I began to follow. You have a great eye  and have wonderful taste. Thank you!

oh your post about penny tile.. really hit close to home. My Fiancee and I recently re-did our backsplash with 1x2 slate mini subway tiles on the mesh backed sheets... and we totally had the same problem with seeing the lines where the sheets of tiles met. We did it ourselves.. so no one to blame.. We ended up removed the a couple of sections to fix it.. and now i totally don't see it anymore.  Keep up the good work blogging.. Looking forward to seeing how things progress!

Nice giveaway Janice :-)

I went to the Fall Home Show last night and saw some crazy cool blinds. They are almost guaranteed out my price range, especially considering we will have 2 full walls of windows in the condo, but a girl can dream!

I hope youre having a good weekend!

Great giveaway Janice! Would love to win the Homesense gift certificate. I'm eyeying several of their side tables and rugs for our living room. What's on the horizon for our home renos? Well, we have to water proof the basement before the snow comes and we're looking to do a major overhaul with our front yard (new landscaping, new plants) in the spring.

Hi Janice,
I think I came across your blog last winter (?) and have been checking it ever since. I have the same bathroom floor as you (your basement) and had similar problems (no where near as bad though) so I know had maddening it is. Unfortunately we couldn't blame a contractor as we did it ourselves! Ha. Oh well...Can't wait to see how your new bath turns out!

Hi Janice, my husband and I just bought our first house, an old fixer upper in Ottawa. While looking for design inspiration I stumbled upon your blog! I love your style and will definitely be using some of your ideas (the penny tile is AMAZING) while redesigning/decorating our house.

Look forward to seeing your completed bathroom reno!
