Now, we are not art people. We'd like to be art people, but we have no clue what to look for, what art is 'worth' and what works where. Situations like this call for one thing, and one thing only.
ETSY.
Seriously - every piece of art that we've purchased in the last 2 years has been from Etsy. It is such a great resource for art at all price points. You can search by colour, medium, size...it is amazing.
Of course it isn't easy to know where to start. So I did what any normal person would do. I googled it!
"art for bathroom" eventually brought up a post on Apartment Therapy on the subject that showed a great print that I thought could look gorgeous in our bathroom:
Gorgeous, right? And $25 bucks! Anyways - I sent this pic to Shannon at 8 Foot 6 for her input. She is my go-to on a number of things, one of which being art.
Anyways, she started sending me complimentary photos from Etsy and eventually landed on this one:
I loved this one - the vintage washed out colours seemed perfect. I did a little digging around the seller's page and came across one more that I thought would work:
So we placed the order and everything arrived today! I put them in 2 walnut looking frames from Ikea and ...GET THIS...I actually put them up on the walls!!
I know - crazy talk!
Sure - the last pic doesn't show the art but I'm thinking of eventually putting two small items over the toilet...
So there you have it - one more thing off the list!

You are on fire...looks great!
I think it looks great, nice colours and good contrast with the frames. One thing though - I noticed you have it framed above the matting because the matting is probably too small and covers the image? The thing is you need some spacer between the glass and the image or your print will get damaged, especially in a humid bathroom. Glass should never touch a print. You might want to use an exacto knife to cut out the mat correctly or buy mats at Michaels.
Also, for future art purchases you might want to look into these guys as well? http://www.20x200.com/welcome/find-art-banner/?utm_source=cupofjo&utm_medium=displaybanner&utm_campaign=displaybannertesting
Hey Giulia - you are right. I did put the pic on top of the matting..not only that but I flipped the mat around because in Ikea's wisdom, they make almost all their mats cream. You think I should try cutting the mat? Hmm...hadn't really thought about it...
Good finds!! I've bought several art prints off of Etsy and I've always got several on my wishlist :)
Perfect! The colours looks so good in your room.
Great prints, I love Etsy art! Quick question--where did you buy the shelf above your toilet? It's exactly what we need for our reno but I can't find it!
Thanks!
We bought it at Pottery Barn - the Mercer train rack!

I would go with white frames!
The photos are so airy. The frames are too contrasty
Id go one bigger in the ribba. Would that work?
Does west elm have frames?
We went with the colour frames that the designer recommended. I actually like them. I agree that we could use bigger frames - I think we can use these elsewhere and buy one size up eventually. For now I think it will do the trick!
They look great! How would they look in a bigger frame? Would they look more dramatic?
I like the bigger frame idea too....and boy, is your bathroom ever looking amazing!
Love the prints in general, and they look amazing in your bathroom specifically! Etsy is a fabulous resource for artwork: we have tons of pieces purchased through various artists floating around the house. Another great option to finding great pieces is to befriend a smaller local gallery. If you visit often and strike up conversations with the gallery directors (usually the owners if you look for small shops) AND let them know you're interested in expanding your collection, they'll start keeping an eye out for things that might interest you. There's no obligation to buy, but it's kind of awesome ~ and useful! ~ to have someone else keep an eye out on your behalf.
Great choices!!
wow! talk about beautiful. what I really like about them is that they keep the bathroom fun and personalized. Sometimes when bathrooms look really beautiful (as yours does for sure) they can lack that personal piece or they are very dressy and serious. I think the pictures are the perfect touch and just the right amount of fun and personality. Just add a mini primary coloured potty seat and a package of wipes on your counter and you are good to go! :) wonderful job. it is absolutely stunning.
I may try bigger frames but am worried it might be too much for the bathroom - almost too formal you know? However, it is a big space so it may work! Just need to convince the hubs that it is worth it haha
Thanks!!
That's a great idea. We really do want to start slowly adding pieces to our home but don't know where to start a lot of the time!
Thanks Trace!
Thanks! I am really happy with the colours as well. We are getting there!
Thanks! Still moving slowly but at least stuff is happening again!
