We finally picked a contractor and are going to be moving forward with a porch renovation!! Yayayay!!
We ended up meeting this contractor through one of you lovelies. I received a number of recommendations through my last porch post and one of them felt like a good fit. Not just because he was recommended by someone who obviously has good taste (ha ha), but because he also is proficient in stone work.
I actually convinced J that it was better to get the whole thing done at once. So that means that in addition to a new porch, we are having the garden fixed and putting down a new pathway!
I personally never thought we needed a new pathway, but J always wanted one and was planning on DIY'ing it. Luckily, this contractor gave us a good 'all-in' price and I was able to convince J that it was worth just getting it done.
I mean...please...the front garden bed has been rotten for 3 years now. And that is the 'easy' job.
So with the job starting in about two weeks, I have to decide what colour stone to pick!! Which means I need your help :-)
So...here is my inspiration pic for the porch (courtesy of Meredith Heron's own home)
And here are my stone options:
And this one gives you an idea of what the colour of our house is (the darker strip of wood)
The dark one is going to fade a little over time to a more charcoal colour, and the lighter slate grey will stay the same (or so I'm told).
Dark = more striking
Light = more subtle
Which do you prefer?
Let me know!
